Despite agencies and communities having some confusion about the role of law enforcement in various situations, community policing is vitally important. Community members need to be reminded that, despite some of the negative situations that have occurred, law enforcement officers are there to protect and serve. Community policing is an excellent way to demonstrate that fact to the public.
